Edge of Desire
As the wind howled through the dense forest, Maya tightened her grip on the map, her heart pounding louder with every step. She never expected to find herself running for her life in the middle of nowhere, but her desperation to find her missing brother had led her here. The locals had warned her about the woods. Strange things happened, they said. People disappeared. But none of that mattered now.

| A thrilling love story |
She hadn’t come alone. Adrian, the mysterious yet handsome man she met in town, had offered to help. He knew the woods better than anyone and had insisted on coming with her. His dark eyes, full of secrets, had intrigued her from the moment they met. But now, in the dead of night, she began to wonder if trusting him was a mistake.
“There’s something you’re not telling me,” Maya whispered, trying to catch her breath as they paused near a fallen tree. Adrian’s face remained unreadable.
“I promised I’d help you find your brother,” he said, his voice low and steady. “But there are things out here you wouldn’t understand.”
“What things? You keep talking in riddles!”
Adrian looked at her, his gaze intense. “Because the truth will only scare you more. But we don’t have time to argue. They’re getting closer.”
“They? Who are they?” Maya’s fear spiked as she glanced around, the shadows seeming to move on their own.
Before Adrian could answer, a rustling noise echoed through the trees. Without thinking, he grabbed her hand, pulling her deeper into the forest. The warmth of his touch sent an electric jolt through her, despite the danger they were in. For reasons she couldn’t explain, she trusted him—even though every part of her told her not to.
As they ran, dodging branches and leaping over rocks, Maya’s thoughts were a whirlwind. How had her life spiraled into this madness? She had come here to find answers, but now, all she had were more questions. Who was Adrian really? And why did she feel so drawn to him?
They finally stopped at the edge of a cliff, the moonlight reflecting off the turbulent waters below. Adrian pulled her close, his breath heavy. “Maya, I didn’t want you to find out like this, but we’re not alone in these woods. There are…beings that live here, creatures that are not human. They’ve been hunting me for years, and now they’ve sensed you.”
Maya’s heart raced as she processed his words. “What are you saying? That you’re…?”
“Not like them. Not fully.” His voice was laced with regret. “But I’m the only one who can keep you safe.”
Her mind reeled with disbelief, yet something inside her—a deep, instinctual feeling—knew he was telling the truth. “What about my brother? Where is he?”
“I’ll help you find him, but we have to get out of here first.”
Just as he spoke, a chilling howl pierced the night air, closer this time. Without another word, Adrian pulled her into his arms, and before Maya could protest, they plunged into the dark abyss below, the wind rushing around them as they fell into the unknown.
In that moment, as fear and adrenaline surged through her veins, Maya realized something—she wasn’t just fighting for her brother’s life anymore. She was fighting for her own heart.
And Adrian was the only one who could save them both.
